Using it for five years now, just to escape systemd and the hell of dependencies of the so called real FreeBSD I would say it is one of the best of its kind. There are some packages I am missing and I do not succeed to install them, but taking this as a challenge it is way ahead of GhostBSD or any Distro with systemd on board, not because they do not work, but who needs systemd? And the shell or even cron-jobs are easier to handle. Thumbs up, well played go ahead.
Without doubt, For any novice to intermediate user, the only Bsd distro for consideration. The graphical Os installation is easy to follow & install. Supported by a incredible community usergroups on Gitter or Irc. App cafe makes easy graphical installation of packages, I believe this includes every application available on Freebsd. TrueOs is based on freebsd-current (Version-12). With graphical pkg's install there is no need to have knowledge of compiling from source, for those that have preference to compiling from source that is still available. Linux compatibility layer is supported. Tor is installed by default, it's just a matter of clicking to enable or disable secure internet traffic .
The negative is GPU support, this applies to any bsd distro, so please check to see if your GPU is supported before downloading & installation. Trueos is to Freebsd , as Archlinux is to Debian, but in the Bsd world. By no means is this Os perfect, It's constantly evolving through it's rolling release for the better, Yes, each update brings improvements to it's own desktop "Lumina", it's does not have all the enriched features like gnome3. Other major desktops environments are available for install, but are not officially supported by TrueOs. Also note that Zfs is the default file system. I've formatted another drive with EXT2 so I can access the files between Bsd & Linux OS.

I've not tried BSD distros much. I think they are ok but still far off the best GNU/Linux distros.
The name PC-BSD was very generic, the new name, TrueOS is just plain bad.

bit of hassle to make all drivers for nvidia to work, but after that rock solid desktop, no random reboots and already months of uptime.
