Been using Maui since 1.0, and Netrunner before that. IMO, pretty darn-near bulletproof Linux with KDE plasma desktop.
In my experience, non-KDE programs like Firefox "just work." Developers do an excellent job of shielding one from the back-end stuff. Should one have problems with back-end stuff, user forum site receives prompt attention from those who know what's going on.
As other reviewer noted, kernel management not in Update Manager. Also, less than thrilled with appearance of Calligra in Maui 17.03. Libre Office works well enough for me. Not sure what the fuss about not having Calligra was about.
Again, IMO, this only affects power users. Overall philosophy of developers appears to be "KDE Plasma that works." Certainly worth a spin if exploring KDE-based distros.

Pros. Very functional. Root actions included in Dolphin in full. Update manager - from Mint. USB image writer - from openSUSE. Nice descktop themes.
Cons. Kernel management is not embedded in the update manager (Maui lags behindMint). USB Stick Formatter (mintstick) would be very helpfull.
