Michael Prokop has announced the release of Grml 2013.02, a Debian-based live CD with a collection of specialist GNU/Linux software, tools and scripts designed for system administrators: "We just released Grml 2013.02 'Grumpy Grinch'. This release brings the Grml tools towards the upcoming Debian stable release ('Wheezy'), provides up-to-date hardware support and fixes known bugs from the previous Grml release. New features: ssh boot option - display SSH server key fingerprints; grml-hwinfo - added support for lsscsi, iscsiadm, Proxmox, libvirt, OpenVZ, VServer information retrieval, swapon, mdadm, LVM + dmsetup, now using 'lspci -nn' for lspci output; grml-live - handling firmware related packages in GRMLBASE, added uuid-runtime to GRMLBASE; grml-network - netcardconfig provides support to scan for available wireless networks...." | Grml is a bootable CD (live CD) based on Debian GNU/Linux. It includes a collection of GNU/Linux software especially for users of text tools and system administrators. It also provides automatic hardware detection. Grml can be used as a rescue system, for analysing systems and networks, or as a working environment. Due to on-the-fly decompression, Grml includes about 2 GB of software and documentation on the CD.

Michael Prokop has announced the release of Grml 2012.05, a Debian-based live CD designed for system administrators and users of text tools: "We just released Grml 2012.05 'Ponyhof'. Thanks for all the feedback we received for our 2011.12 release, we took it serious and hope that everyone finds 2012.05 such a wonderful release as we consider it to be. There were some changes between 2012.05-rc1 and the new stable release. The most important ones are: update to Linux kernel 3.3.7; added sysstat (and imvirt-helper was pulled in as dependency); fixed GRUB 2, iPXE and MirOS bsd4grml boot options for 64-bit ISO images; added wallpaper; fixed language boot option for the grml-small flavour." Ulrich Dangel has announced the release of Grml 2011.12, a Debian-based live CD with an excellent collection of GNU/Linux software and scripts for system administrators: "We have just released Grml 2011.12 'Knecht Rootrecht', just in time to put it under the Christmas tree. There were quite a lot of changes between RC1 and the new stable release. The most important ones are: update to Linux kernel 3.1.6; easier remastering with grml-live and existing Grml ISO images; new GRUB boot theme; syslinux will indicate its boot menu with one beep; GRUB will indicate its boot menu with three beeps; enable all mixer controls at start-up and set volume to 75%; reworked and more flexible GRUB configuration file handling; grml2usb - use the GRUB configuration from the ISO image instead of creating a new one; additional key bindings for Fluxbox; fix keyboard layout bug." New features: new Linux kernel version based on 2.6.38.7; initramfs is now XZ compressed (smaller); /run has been introduced. Important changes: iPXE has replaced gPXE; core scripts previously found in grml-scripts are now shipped as grml-scripts-core to facilitate reuse on plain Debian systems; due to popular demand, the Ratpoison window manager is included once again; grml-debootstrap adds the security repository for stable and testing installations; grml-quickconfig will be executed on grml-small...."
