NEW • Development Release: Elive 2.1.27 (Unstable) |

A new public development release of Elive, a Debian-based distribution featuring a highly customised Enlightenment 0.17 desktop, is out and ready for testing: "The Elive team is proud to announce the release of development version 2.1.27. This version includes some miscellaneous features like: multiple improvements in Enlightenment 0.17 and start-up configurations; persistence feature where you can save your data in live mode; better list of languages supported with their required fonts; Elive now supports more languages than before; audio card features including better recognition, improved volumes, microphone working by default for applications like Skype; now using syslinux to boot the ISO images, this greatly increases the number of computers Elive can boot on; included new WINE version 1.5.22 to support a wider range of Windows applications." |
| Elive, or Enlightenment live CD, is a Debian-based desktop Linux distribution and live CD featuring the Enlightenment window manager. Besides being pre-configured and ready for daily desktop use, it also includes "Elpanel" - a control centre for easy system and desktop administration. Elive is a commercial distribution; while the live CD is available as a free download, those wishing to install it to a hard disk are asked to pay US$15 for an installation module.

Samuel Baggen has announced the release of Elive 2.1.40, a new development build of the project's Debian-based live DVD featuring a customised Enlightenment window manager: "The Elive team is proud to announce the release of development version 2.1.40. This version includes some miscellaneous features, such as: updated to the stable release of Debian 'Wheezy'; Engage now works much better with composite and non-composite modes; noop scheduler configured by default for SSD disks if they are detected; updated to the last terminology version 0.3; newly-added online applications include Khan Academy, TEDx and Code School which is a friendly way to introduce and teach programming languages; improved auto-detection of user's language. Samuel Baggen has released a new development build of Elive, version 2.1.37, a desktop Linux distribution integrating the lightweight Enlightenment window manager with the "testing" branch of Debian GNU/Linux: "The Elive team is proud to announce the release of development version 2.1.37. This version includes some miscellaneous new features like: automatic language and time zone configurations based on your physical location; Enlightenment updated to the new released version with lots of bug fixes; Enlightenment improvements in the automated positioning of windows in the desktop; suspend ready; fixed an important bug in the Enlightenment menus; fixed a bug with Intel cards when the screen is blanking. Elive 2.1.32, a new development built of the desktop Linux distribution that focuses on integrating Debian GNU/Linux with the Enlightenment window manager, has been released for testing: "The Elive team is proud to announce the release of development version 2.1.32. This version includes miscellaneous features like: completed redesign of the Focus system; special mode for Enlightenment 17 called night reading, which inverts the colors of your screen, making the reading much more comfortable; created another mode called sleep, which turns your computer off in a specific time of the day or in a countdown value, configurable for each day and with different types of halting; moved from xine to VLC for playing DVDs; integrated compatibility of different file managers with the default one; Zenity sizes of the box fixed." After nearly three years without a release, the Elive project, which develops a Debian-based distribution and live CD featuring the latest Enlightenment 0.17 desktop, has suddenly sprung to life with an early development release: "The Elive team is proud to announce the release of development version 2.1.23. We are very excited to announce this first development version of Elive and there are many reasons why we are excited. First, we want to remind you that the reason why nothing has been published yet about Elive is that there were a few things to be rewritten to ensure an overall stable system, which will make other programs more compatible and ensures this version works well. The new stable version of Elive has a huge list of improvements. Its ease of use makes it suitable for any kind of user along with a totally new Linux experience for those who have not tried Elive before. A new development version of Elive, a live CD featuring a customised Enlightenment 17 window manager based on Debian stable, has been released: "The Elive Team is proud to announce the release of the development version 1.9.60. We are very close to the next stable version of Elive 2.0. These are the last development versions coming so you are more than welcome to report bugs now. If you are an Elive translator this is the moment to finish all the remaining messages to be translated. Changes: an entirely different system rewritten for auto-launchers containing features which are more handy and less annoying, entirely configurable; Touchpad configurator added; added a new driver for CD-ROM drives needed to boot into live mode; misc bugs fixed, features added, and a few informative messages added; Linux kernel version 2.6.30." Changes: 3G phones - more than 300 new operators added; Internet module - if you connect with a 3G phone, the configuration will be saved and you can set it to automatically connect at boot; Icedove - when installing Icedove, it contains by default a very nice-looking Elive-style template; Flash updated to version 10.0.42.34; installer - some fixes regarding the boot of Windows systems; Linux kernel version 2.6.30.
