NEW • Distribution Release: Calculate Linux 12.0 |

Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the release of Calculate Linux 12.0, a Gentoo-based distribution for desktops and servers: "Calculate Linux 12.0 released. Major changes: Calculate Utilities 3 are now used to install and set up your system - network client-server solutions via SOAP/WSDL are supported, both console and graphical interfaces are implemented, multiple installations are supported, system settings can now be configured either from the command line or in a graphical environment; Calculate Linux Xfce has a better appearance - the new Adwaita theme, a bigger menu, somewhat better response, Geeqie as the default image viewer; a new start page; GIMP was updated to version 2.8 and has now a one-window interface by default." | Calculate Linux is a Gentoo-based family of three distinguished distributions. Calculate Directory Server (CDS) is a solution that supports Windows and Linux clients via LDAP + SAMBA, providing proxy, mail and Jabbers servers with streamlined user management. Calculate Linux Desktop (CLD) is a workstation and client distribution with KDE, GNOME or Xfce desktop that includes a wizard to configure a connection to Calculate Directory Server. Calculate Linux Scratch (CLS) is live CD with a build framework for creating a custom distribution.

Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the release of Calculate Linux 13.4, a Gentoo-based distribution for desktops (with KDE, GNOME 2 or Xfce), servers and media centres. The biggest news is the removal of GNOME 3 and the assertion that GNOME will no longer be supported in future Calculate releases. From the release announcement: "We are proud to announce the final release of Calculate Linux 13.4. Main changes: UEFI support added on 64-bit systems; hibernation is TuxOnIce by default; BFQ I/O scheduler supported; Calculate Utilities can now backup configuration files; the installer provides more advanced auto-partitioning options; networked Linux clients should now boot faster when the network is down; the IRC client in CLDG and CLDX is HexChat instead of XChat; CLD now uses GParted as the GUI partition manager...." Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the release of Calculate Linux 13, a Gentoo-based distribution for desktops and servers: "We are proud to announce the final release of Calculate Linux 13. Main changes and fixes: meta-packages are no longer used to manage default dependencies; Portage files will be unpacked when booting for the first time; better identification of NTFS partitions; fixed the user profile configuration for VMware; Composite enabled by default for VMware; should you want to replace main applications, their launch icons will be created correctly; in case the user modified the local Portage overlay repositories, those can now be restored; Calculate Utilities were updated to 3.1; full French translation now available...." Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the availability of the first beta release of Calculate Linux 13, a distribution based on Gentoo Linux: "We are happy to announce the release of the first Calculate Linux 13 beta version. Main changes: meta packages are no longer used to manage default dependencies; each Calculate Linux edition is now featuring its own appearance theme; Portage files will be unpacked when booting for the first time; Calculate Utilities were updated to 3.1 beta 2; a new tool, calculate-update - for the time being, it only handles the world file, but will be able to do much more soon; KDE was updated to 4.9.4; GNOME was updated to 3.4; AxeMenu replaced the standard menu; the Parcellite clipboard will be used from now on...." Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the availability of a bug-fix release of Calculate Linux 12, version 12.0.2, a Gentoo-based distribution: "Calculate Linux 12.0.2 released. Here's the first update of Calculate Linux 12.0. Main changes and bug fixes: passing the root password has been modified; installation on LVM has been fixed; GRUB 2 settings have been fixed; Clt templates are now overlaid correctly; D-Bus now auto-starts as it should; no more lags when installing packages; Smaller ISO images; we have included KDE 4.9.0, Chromium 21.0.1180.57, LibreOffice 3.6.0 and Calculate Utilities 3.0.1 into the release." Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced that the first public beta release of Calculate Linux 12, a Gentoo-based distribution for desktops and servers, is available for testing: "We're happy to announce that Calculate Linux 12 has entered its final phase - a beta-testing version is now available. Main features: network client-server solutions via SOAP/WSDL are supported; both console and graphical interfaces are implemented; multiple installations are supported - you can install CL on several storage media at once, locally as well as remotely; system settings can now be configured either from the command line or in a graphical environment; the Xfce edition has a better appearance with the new Adwaita theme." Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the release of Calculate Linux 11.15, a Gentoo-based distribution for desktops (with KDE, GNOME 3 or Xfce) and servers: "We are pleased to announce the release of Calculate Linux 11.15, a Gentoo-based distribution fully compatible with the original Gentoo, but using its own installer, configuring your system with Calculate utilities and providing an all-ready heterogeneous client-server solution for rapid deployment in corporate environment. The major change in Calculate Linux 11.15 is the migration to GNOME 3 and to GNOME Shell, while the desktop interface of Calculate Linux remains visually the same." Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the release of Calculate Linux 11.12, a Gentoo-based distribution set with focus on desktop and server computing: "Calculate Linux 11.12 has been released. Major changes: updating the Portage trees has become much faster since we migrated on Git; binary repositories are better handled now that all changes are synchronized with Portage updates; support has been added for PXE network booting; from now on, you can specify the domain and the domain password when booting from a live CD or a live USB or via PXE; language and time zone preferences can now be specified for any newly created ISO image; software - Linux kernel 3.1.6, X.Org 7.4, KDE 4.7.4, GNOME 2.32, Chromium 16.0.912.63...." Alexander Tratsevskiy has announced the release of Calculate Linux 11.9, a Gentoo-based distribution set for a variety of uses: "Calculate Linux 11.9 has been released. Major changes: Calculate Linux now has a new flavor - Calculate Media Center; local user profiles will be updated in a new way - changes will be made only when programs are installed; installation on a soft RAID partition and LVM partition supported; support added for Btrfs and NILFS2 and we've fixed the problem with installing on JFS; ext4 comes as the default file system at install; single-user installation mode added to allow login without entering the password...."
