Development Release: Linux Deepin 9.12 Beta 1 |
 |
Linux Deepin is a Chinese distribution consisting of elaborately selected software applications and configurations, with the goal of being easy and convenient to use. Version 9.12 is the first public release since the project changed its name from Hiweed Linux, and after five internal alpha tests the first beta version has just been announced. Although there is a change in both the project name and the logo, the slogan continues to be "relieving novices from painfully getting started with Linux as well as saving the time for veterans". Moreover, the distribution still claims to be lightweight. Linux Deepin 9.12 is based on the software repository of Ubuntu 9.10 and is only complied for the i386 architecture. Features inherited from the upstream distribution are Linux kernel 2.6.31 with USB 3.0 support and Xfce 4.6.1 with enhanced desktop experience. Check the project introduction and the release notes (both links in Chinese) for more information. Download: Deepin-9.12-beta1.iso (695MB, MD5, torrent). |
