Distribution Release: Puppy Linux 4.3 |

Barry Kauler has announced the release of Puppy Linux 4.3: "Puppy Linux version 4.3 released. Highlights: Linux kernel 2.6.30.5 configured for SMP (multi-processor) systems, with support for the ext4 file system and patched for Aufs2; Internet by dial-up - the kernel has drivers for many modems, including Agere, ESS, Lucent, Conexant, SmartLink, PCTEL and Intel chipsets; Pstreamvid - a great GUI for playing Internet TV; JWM theme maker; Psync - synchronises the clock to an Internet time server; SQLiteManager - a front-end for SQLite and an add-on to SeaMonkey; Hiawatha - a very small and extremely secure web server to serve CUPS, PPLOG and QUISP pages; a screenshot utility based on mtPaint, but with a very basic GUI; Pmirrorget for downloading a complete web site...." | Sí Puppy Linux es aún otra distribución de Linux más. La diferencia estriba en que Puppy es extraordinariamente pequeña, aunque bastante completa. Puppy arranca en un disco RAM de 64MB, y eso es, todo corre desde la RAM. Al contrario que las distribuciones Live CD que tienen que ir sacando cosas del CD, Puppy se carga en su totalidad en RAM. Esto quiere decir que todas las aplicaciones empiezan en un abrir y cerrar de ojos y que responden a las entradas del usuario de manera instántanea. Puppy Linux tiene la habilidad de arrancar desde una tarjeta flash o desde cualquier dispositivo USB (flash-puppy), CDROM (live-Puppy), disco Zip o LS/120/240 SuperDisk (zippy-Puppy), disquetes (floppy-Puppy), disco duro interno (hard-Puppy).
