Development Release: PC-BSD 7.1.1 RC2 |
 |
Kris Moore has announced the availability of the second release candidate for PC-BSD 7.1.1, a FreeBSD-based operating system for the desktop: "I've just finished uploading PC-BSD 7.1.1 RC2 for your inspection. This version fixes many of the bugs you've reported from RC1, and also seems to fix a lot of the issues with Intel video cards. Changelog: updated 7.2-STABLE to 2009-06-24; fixed bugs in py-cups port, which corrects 'Print a test page' failure from the GUI; fixed bugs in ksyslog program, now finds /var/log/messages properly; added GVim to the menu; removed obsolete printing menu icons; improved the system updater tray, don't issue pop-up on failure, change icon instead; updated WINE to 1.1.24, which fixes issues with certain 3D games; miscellaneous other bug fixes." Read the full release announcement for more details and known issues. Download: PCBSD7.1.1-RC2-x86-DVD.iso (1,976MB, MD5). |

| About PC-BSD |
| PC-BSD has as its goals to be an easy-to-install-and-use desktop operating system, based on FreeBSD. To accomplish this, it currently has a graphical installation, which will enable even UNIX novices to easily install and get it running. It will also come with KDE pre-built, so that the desktop can be used immediately. Currently in development is a graphical software installation program, which will make installing pre-built software as easy as other popular operating systems. |
