Development Release: PureOS 2.0 Beta 1 |

Marc Poirette has announced the release of the first beta build of PureOS 2.0, a desktop distribution and live CD (with KDE 4) based on Debian's testing branch: "PureOS 2.0 beta 1 is available, built with Linux-Live scripts 6.2.9. This is the first version based on 'Squeeze' (Debian testing), with KDE 4.2. Inside: Linux kernel 2.6.27.8 + kernel headers + NDISwrapper module; environment - KDE 4.2.2; office - OpenOffice.org 3.0 (Base, Calc, Draw, Impress and Writer) with help; Internet - Iceweasel 3.0, Icedove 2.0 + Lightning 0.9, Akregator, FileZilla, Kopete and qBittorrent; Graphics - GIMP 2.6.6 (with help), Gwenview and Okular; multimedia - ISO Master, K3b, Songbird and VLC; smxi/sgfxi scripts for system maintenance and NVIDIA and ATI drivers installation...." | PureOS and PureOSlight are GNU/Linux live CDs based on Debian's testing repository. These are desktop distributions that can be used as live media (CD or USB) or as full-featured operating systems installed on a hard disk. PureOS is a 700 MB live CD with KDE, Iceweasel, Icedove, OpenOffice.org, Songbird, VLC and K3B. PureOSlight is a small 300 MB live CD with Xfce, Iceweasel, Icedove, AbiWord, Gnumeric and Exaile. |
