Development Release: ZevenOS 2.0 Preview |

Leszek Lesner has announced the availability of the first preview of ZevenOS 2.0, an Ubuntu-based GNU/Linux distribution aiming to provide a fast and easy-to-use desktop with BeOS-like user interface and support for older hardware: "We are proud to announce the release of ZevenOS 1.9, a preview release for version 2.0. The underlying system has been updated to Ubuntu 'Jaunty' (9.04) which brings speed improvements and new hardware support. A new bootsplash and wallpaper has been implemented through the help of the community. Our software has been updated to the latest versions, including an improved Deskbar, as well as MAGI 2, DiskManager and People. Our updated base system brings not only more speed but also updated applications which has fixed many bugs. But the new system brings also some regressions, like the Intel graphics card performance and stability issues." Read the full release announcement for further details.
