Development Release: Vine Linux 5.0 Alpha |
 |
Daisuke Suzuki has announced the availability of the first alpha build of Vine Linux 5.0, a general-purpose distribution designed primarily for Japanese-speaking users. This early alpha release may contain bugs and, as such, it is recommended that only experienced developers and beta testers install the operating system. Its APT update mechanism points to Vine Seed, the distribution's development tree, so installed systems can be continuously updated to follow the development cycle. Known issues: some video cards using ATI Mobility Radeon M6 might not work correctly; the nv driver fails during the installation process. The distribution is based on Linux kernel 2.6.27, with glibc 2.8, GCC 4.1.2, X.Org Server 1.6.1 and GNOME 2.26. Visit the project's beta page (in Japanese) to read the complete release notes. Download the installation CD from here: Vine49-alpha-i386-20090427.iso (669MB, SHA1). |
