NEW • Development Release: Nexenta OS Alpha 7 |
| Alex Ross has announced the 7th alpha release of Nexenta OS, a desktop-oriented distribution combining the OpenSolaris kernel with Debian utilities and Ubuntu packages: "Nexenta OS (elatte) Alpha 7 is now available. Release Highlights: OpenSolaris & NWS build 61 (non-debug); installer - new partitioning wizard, installer log (via F3), usability fixes, built-in driver availability detection; improved SVR4 compatibility (pkgadd, pkgrm, etc.); improved live upgrade - it is believed to work for all previously released alphas. In addition, Alpha 7 contains: D-Bus 1.0; Apache, MySQL, rsync, PostgreSQL, Amanda - the latest or very recent...." Visit the project's download page to read the full release announcement. Nexenta OS runs on Intel/AMD 32-/64-bit hardware and is distributed as a single installable CD. Upgrades and binary packages not included on the CD can be installed from Nexenta OS repository using Advanced Packaging Tool. In addition, source based software components can be downloaded from network repositories available at Debian/GNU Linux and Ubuntu Linux. |
