NEW • Development Release: Kurumin Linux 7.0 Alpha |
| Carlos Morimoto has announced the start of a new development cycle leading towards Kurumin Linux 7.0. According to the release announcement (in Portuguese), version 7.0 is expected to be a special, "long-lasting" release, based on Debian "etch". As such, the Kurumin development tree has been synchronised with "etch" and users can expect headache-free version updates to a relatively stable Debian "testing" branch, instead of running a more problematic combination of software from both "testing" and "unstable" Debian branches. One feature that will not be included in Kurumin 7.0 is Xgl - a technology that is not considered mature enough and which is of interest to a comparatively small proportion of Linux users - those with modern ATI or NVIDIA graphics cards. One other new feature in this release is read/write support in mounted NTFS partitions. Interested testers can download the new CD image from here: kurumin-7.0a.iso (583MB, MD5). |
