NEW • Development Release: Absolute Linux 12.1 RC1 |
| Paul Sherman has announced the availability of the first release candidate for Absolute Linux 12.1, a light-weight variant of Slackware Linux with the IceWM window manager: "Absolute Linux 12.1 RC1 released. The latest build uses enhanced PCMan in place of ROX-Filer as the default file manager, but ROX still runs the desktop and is available. The kernel is 2.6.24.4, custom compiled to be lean, yet it includes common device access without module loading, pre-emptive (desktop) and is CPU compatible down to Pentium MMX. Wicd is up and working for wireless, as are HPLIP for HP toolbox (ink levels, clean printheads, install new printer) and ivman runs to pop up menu for playable media. Since IceWM and the current X.Org do not play well together with Ctrl+Alt+Backspace, IceWM now includes the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+Esc to kill X when the dirty deed is needed. Pdfedit also added to base install." Here is the complete changelog. Download: absolute-12.1rc1.iso (700MB, MD5). |
